My name is Amanda Koslosky and I am excited to say that I will be running the New York City marathon in November of 2023!
The process of getting into this marathon is challenging, and my acceptance definitely did not go as planned. I ended up qualifying for this marathon last summer and was excited to sign-up with a “guaranteed entry.” I did not realize that qualifying time registrations were not 100% guaranteed, and unfortunately my application was not accepted. No big deal, because if your application wasn’t selected , you were pushed through to the lottery! Yet again, my application was not accepted through the lottery. HOWEVER, my mom’s application was!
We have actually already experienced this exact same lottery outcome when we both applied for the Chicago Marathon in 2018. At that time, my mom decided to defer her entry until 2019 and cross her fingers that I got in, which I did!!! Instead of repeating that “finger crossing” plan, I decided that I would apply to run for a charity.
I am excited to say that I was accepted as part of Team Animal League (North Shore Animal League) and will be representing them as I run in the 2023 New York City Marathon! Team members pay for their race fees; however, in addition, I have the task of raising $3,000 for North Shore Animal League! This is definitely out of my comfort zone to ask for support in raising money, but I am so excited that I was able to become a part of this amazing charity. Team Animal League is the largest no-kill animal rescue and adoption organization in the world!
If you feel pulled to support me with a donation to this wonderful charity and ultimately helping race in the NYC Marathon, please use the link below to make a donation! I greatly appreciate any support you can give; especially, cheering on me and my mom as we race in November!
