Join Us to Save More Homeless Animals
This puppy mill survivor spent most of her life in a cage. But saving her from these cruel, neglectful conditions was only the start of Echo's healing journey.
The lack of proper exercise and medical care compounded the pain she was in. So by the time Echo arrived at our no-kill campus, her rear leg had atrophied… she could barely move it. It was clear Echo needed our help on the outside. But we had no idea what — or who — was waiting on the inside. Echo was also pregnant!

Scruffy Echo and her newborn litter received the lifesaving care they needed at North Shore Animal League America. But it's support from our pet-loving community that enables us to be there for every dog, cat, puppy, and kitten in need.
We're proud to report that Echo's physical therapy and rehabilitation was successful, giving this Shih Tzu another chance at life… discovering all the “firsts” a puppy mill rescue may never see… their first backyard, their first nap on the couch, their first cuddle, and so much more.
donate nowOur No-Kill Mission at Work
We conduct local, national, international, puppy mill and disaster rescues, and respond to calls from municipal shelters and rescue groups.
At our AAHA-accredited veterinary hospital, we provide a high level of care to every animal that we rescue to help ready that pet for adoption.
Through our adoption centers and shelter partners, we ensure homeless animals find responsible, loving homes.
We empower educators to create future generations of informed and empathetic adopters.
SINCE 1944
For more than 80 years, we've offered shelter, veterinary care, and loving homes to dogs, cats, puppies, and kittens with nowhere else to turn.
